GILLETTE, Wyo. — A Wright man is out hundreds of thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency after his investment account was reportedly emptied without permission, according to Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds.
The victim, a 50-year-old man, called the sheriff’s office at 12:10 p.m. on Oct. 3 to report the theft, saying that the account was accessed and emptied by a “C. Nance,” Reynolds said.
The man reported making an initial investment on Sept. 17 of $50,000 and stated that the original investment had more than sextupled to $331,000 by Oct. 3, at which point the suspect took the money, per Reynolds.
A report has been forwarded to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
