If you’re looking to dig your teeth into a hero with an exceptionally high variance between high and low-level play, then look no farther than Mei. If you were to take a poll of everyone’s favorite and least favorite characters, assuming that you’re speaking to players who have sampled each of them, then it’s likely you’ll find equal amounts of Mei-haters and Mei-lovers. Her main weapon, the Endothermic Blaster, has two distinct firing modes that can take out even the strongest enemies when used in combination. By clicking the left-mouse button (or pulling the right trigger), she can continuously fire a stream of frost, which will both do damage to enemies and eventually freeze them in their tracks. Its secondary firing mode charges up a massive icicle, which does an insane amount of damage upon contact. Needless to say, the Endothermic Blaster has the potential to be ruthless against long-range foes while also making it relatively easy to deal with faster characters like Tracer and Genji.
Much has been made of the rivalry between Blizzard and Gearbox Software, with the former seemingly attempting to hinder the success of the latter at every turn. Overwatch’s Open Beta’s Early Access period launched at the same time as the full release of Battleborn , making this the second time that version of the two titles have gone head to head with playable builds. There are a ton of similarities between the two titles, as both have over twenty playable heroes that each have a distinct personality and set of skills, but Overwatch DLC and Battleborn are less similar than one might initially imagine. Whereas Battleborn is essentially a MOBA with a campaign (despite Gearbox’s complete avoidance of that four letter acronym over the years), Overwatch is an arena shooter in the vein of Team Fortress 2.
June 2, 2025, is the 10-year anniversary of Heroes of the Storm , so it is fitting that Heroes Brawl has returned for the MOBA’s big year. This is a huge win for fans of the Blizzard MOBA – and many players are hoping it might be yet another prelude to an official revival of Heroes of the Sto
McCree’s main ability, Combat Roll, is exactly what it sounds like: a forward tumble in whichever direction he’s facing. Aside from the fact that this can get McCree out of the way of a great deal of enemy fire, it also automatically reloads the Peacekeeper, which allows for a particularly devastating secondary fire-Combat Roll-secondary fire combo. His other ability, Flashbang, is a throwable stun grenade that locks foes in place. Not only is this wonderful at stopping quick characters like Tracer in their tracks, but they also make for particularly easy kills with McCree’s clip-emptying secondary fire. Finally, McCree’s ultimate, Deadeye, allows him to slowly lock onto the heads of enemies in the area, guaranteeing a kill during a full lock-on (basically, it’s a straight up mark-and-execute maneuver). This is best utilized from behind a skirmish when there are multiple enemies on the screen. It’s worth noting that McCree is one of the hardest characters to use effectively, so don’t be alarmed if it takes you a bit of practice before you become a cowboy master.
Sonic Arrow, Hanzo’s first core ability, replaces his standard arrow with one that reveals all enemies in the surrounding area, essentially producing a smaller version of Widowmaker’s Infra-Sight ultimate. This should be used when you have a sinking feeling that your team is being flanked, or if you’re simply looking to get the lay of the land around a given objective. Hanzo’s second ability, Scatter Arrow, is fairly self-explanatory. A single arrow that divides into a host of smaller projectiles, Scatter Arrow does a fair amount of damage when in an enclosed area, as each of its smaller arrows will bounce off of any surface they come in contact with. One major point on this: direct contact with an enemy before the split will cause every arrow to hit that foe, causing a massive amount of damage. Finally, Hanzo’s ultimate is perhaps the most iconic out of every one of Overwatch’s unique special attacks. Dragonstrike allows his next arrow to split into two massive dragons that twist around each other, go through walls and do huge damage to anyone caught inside of its wake. Needless to say, this is an absolutely wonderful attack for clearing out an objective or payload destination, and perfect timing will often net players the coveted Play of the Game.
In July 2022, Heroes of the Storm officially entered maintenance mode , formally discontinuing any new content from being added to the game. Since then, Blizzard has periodically updated Heroes of the Storm in the form of balance patches, bug fixes, and other similar twe
Heroes Brawl, initially introduced as Arena Mode, was a Heroes of the Storm game mode introduced in 2016 that featured weekly rotating challenges with drastic changes to the game. Inspired by Hearthstone ’s Tavern Brawls, Heroes Brawls introduced unique map layouts, alternative objectives, and zany rulesets, such as an all-Nova Ghost Protocol sniper duel, action-packed Arena versions of several battlefields, and the Escape from Braxis PvE mission. Unfortunately, due to the popularity of single-lane maps, and the difficulty of maintaining the mode, Heroes Brawl was permanently replaced by ARAM – All Random, All Mid – in 2
