In Act 1 , which typically brings players up to around Level 5 , you will be able to choose your Ranger Subclass (Beast Master), your first Favored Enemy and Natural Explorer choices, your Fighting Style, Feats, larian Studios and a handful of Lvl 1 spells.
Snap an ally out of any Stun. Difficult Terrain can‘t slow them down, and they can’t be magically Paralysed or Restrained. If the target is Restrained by non-magical means, it can spend 5ft of movement to Free itself.
Project a phantasmal image so frightening it makes targets drop whatever they are holding and become Fearful. If the target ends their turn where they can’t see you, they can make another Saving Throw to shake off their fear.

Touch a creature to grant it protection against poisonious influences. You neutralise all poisons affecting it, grant it Advantage on Saving Throws against being Poisoned, and grant it Resistance to Poison damage.
Having yet another companion in combat can be really helpful, but the summons available through Find Familiar aren’t very strong. Choose one with some utility, like the Raven or the Cat, who can inflict status effects on enemies or distract them instead of engaging in direct combat.
When the Bounty Hunter Ranger Ensnares an enemy, they gain Disadvantage on their Saving Throw against being rooted, leaving them writhing in agony without being able to move more often. Simply send in your Bear to finish the job.
The Beast Master Ranger is a hybrid ranged support and melee bruiser, capable of dishing out tons of damage and controlling enemy attacks with the Summon Companion ability. Interrupt a creature in the process of casting a spell, making it fail so it has no effect. The higher the level of the spell being cast, the harder it is to interrupt. You can always interrupt spells of 3rd level or lower.
The Ranger’s Favored Enemy choice is tough, and it works differently than it did in the tabletop Dungeons and Dragons . Of the choices available, the Bounty Hunter is arguably the most useful Favored Enemy when paired with Summon Companion.

Transform yourself or an ally into a cloud of mist to avoid attacks. The target becomes Resistant to all damage, gains Advantage on Constitution, Dexterity, and Strength Saving Throws, and becomes tiny in size.
Touch an enemy to syphon their life force. You regain half as many hit points as hit points as the damage they take. For 10 turns, you can use Vampiric Touch again without expending an additional spell slot.
