It’s the subject of countless memes and Reddit threads and now Revolut has added Dogecoin to its roster.

The coin, which is currently worth $0.32 at the time of writing this article, was added as part of Revolut’s new crypto launching programme, Token Tuesdays.

Dogecoin marks Revolut’s 30th coin offered through its app after eight new tokens were added in last week’s inaugural Token Tuesday.

“I said before that 2021 would be the year of crypto and Revolut is here to deliver on that promise,” Edward Cooper, head of crypto at Revolut said.

“One of the most popular user requests over the past couple of months has been to add Dogecoin and we have answered the call!  We have just launched Dogecoin in-app. So now keen crypto customers and those new to the game can buy and sell this popular token.”

Dogecoin is one of the most prominent ‘Memecoins’ and currently has the sixth highest market cap of all cryptocurrencies, currently standing at $42.82bn.

Revolut has been banking on crypto lately.

Back in April, AltFi exclusively revealed that Revolut would soon allow paying Metal customers to get beta access to transfer their Bitcoin holdings out of Revolut.

Some limits will apply during the beta period, beyond its restriction to Metal paying customers. Only three external addresses can be added, and withdrawals are limited to £1,000/month or £500/day, with limits being reviewed in the future.

The digital banking service also expanded its cryptocurrency offering thanks to an integration with Elliptic’s cryptocurrency compliance tools its Metal subscribers will also now have the option to have their transactions recorded on the blockchain when withdrawing crypto from the Revolut app.

According to AltFi’s calculations earlier this year, Revolut could be sitting on over £1bn worth of crypto on behalf of its customers.
