Chainlink crypto: How to buy, price, what it is

If you have already purchased Dogecoin or Bitcoin, there is another cryptocurrency to dabble in: Chainlink (LINK).

LINK tokens are the digital asset of Chainlink, which are used to pay for services on its decentralized oracle network, according to Gemini.

The network “provides real-world data to smart contracts on the blockchain,” which are “pre-specified agreements that evaluate information and automatically execute when certain conditions are met,” Gemini says.

One LINK token is currently worth $17.66, according to real-time data tracked by CoinMarketCap (Market capitalization is constantly changing).

How to buy Chainlink (LINK)

Chainlink is currently available on Coinbase, Kraken, Crypto.com, eToro and Gemini.

For Coinbase, if you don’t already have an account, you simply just need to sign up. When you make an account, you will also receive $5 worth of Bitcoin for free upon verification of ID.

Chainlink was founded by Sergey Nazarov in 2014, but didn’t launch until 2017, according to SmartAsset.com.

What is cryptocurrency?

Cryptocurrency is a digital asset designed to be used over the internet, according to Coinbase. It’s decentralized, meaning it isn’t controlled by the government or any other central authority such as a bank.

If you want to educate yourself more on cryptocurrency and how it works, you can always enroll in an online course, too. Courses are offered at online platforms Coursera, LinkedIn Learning and Udemy.
