CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – The stable token act or senate file 106, if passed tomorrow, will be the first cryptocurrency to be backed by a state.
This would set a precedent that could open up business possibilities nationally and globally.
“We need to stay innovative we need to stay out ahead and be the early leader to continue to bring business to the state of Wyoming. We feel very good about the fact that other states and even other countries around the world, are looking to us as the established leader in this space,” said Chris Rothfuss, District 9.
Wyoming will keep U.S. dollars in trust to back this cryptocurrency.
The bill is expected to clear its third reading tomorrow.
Next, the Conference Committee on redistricting met Wednesday afternoon. Three proposals from the Senate and 1 from the House will get mapped today.
They involve the Johnson -Sheridan county, Natrona county, the western corridor along I-80, and one internally in Laramie county.
“How do we preserve different communities of interest around the state and do it in a manner that doesn’t affect other communities of interest. So it’s just a process, I hope we come out with a good product.” Rep. Albert Sommers, District 27.
The amendments will now be added to the 62 to 31 plan.
