Cryptocurrency Tax News Live Updates: Govt to amend finance bill to clear the air on TDS on virtual digital assets

The government has proposed that transfer of any virtual/cryptocurrency asset will be taxed at 30%. No deduction except cost of acquisition will be allowed and no loss in transaction will be allowed to be carried forward, the finance minister announced in Budget 2022 today.

TDS will be imposed on payments for the transfer of crypto assets at a rate of 1% for transactions over a certain threshold. Furthermore, gifts of crypto assets will be taxed in the recipient’s hands.

This amendment will take effect from 1 st April, 2023 and will accordingly apply in relation to the assessment year 2023-24 and subsequent assessment years.

Sensex tanks over 540 points in early trade

Equity benchmark Sensex tumbled over 540 points in opening trade on Thursday, tracking losses in banking and financial stocks amid a weak trend in global equity markets. A first black box found on Wednesday was the cockpit voice recorder based on an early assessment, a Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) official told reporters. US to impose new sanctions against Russian politicians, oligarchs

US President Joe Biden will unveil new sanctions against Russian politicians and oligarchs during a series of summits in Brussels on Thursday, according to a media report. The US President will also discuss NATO’s force posture on its eastern edge and contingency plans for the potential use of chemical or nuclear weapons by Russia, reported CNN citing a statement by US national security adviser Jake Sullivan, who was aboard the flight as Biden headed to Europe.Speaking on the new sanctions to be imposed against Russia, Sullivan said that during a G7 meeting, Biden and fellow leaders will “agree on an initiative to coordinate on sanctions enforcement” aimed at disallowing Russian efforts to evade existing sanctions. India abstains from voting at UNSC on Russian resolution over Ukraine

Britain giving Ukraine thousands more missiles
