The Malice that’s unleashed at the beginning of the game may cause another event on the scale of the Great Calamity, leaving the land and its people in ruins rather than turned into monsters. Though the landscape seems to be relatively intact in the various trailers, the Malice may only target civilized areas like Zora’s Domain and leave wild ones full of monsters alone. BOTW 2 ‘s transformed skies also may offer a twist on this; it’s possible that Malice will completely cover the surface in a toxic flood, forcing players to flee to the safety of the floating islands. Prince Sidon is the prince of Zora, the son of King Dorephan, and Mipha’s brother. He not only assisted Link in taking down a Divine Beast that was threatening Zora’s Domain in BOTW , but also was a good friend to the Hylian hero and shared an emotional bond, in part because of Mipha. Sidon heavily grieves his sister’s death and can be caught speaking to her statue, wishing she were there. The quests surrounding the Zora in BOTW focus heavily on her, and Link’s adventure log reveals his feelings for Mipha , though fans had to sift through the Japanese version to get the bigger picture of this. Contemplating the events that may happen in Tears of the Kingdom it is easy to assume that Prince (or perhaps even King by this time) Sidon will join Link for at least a portion of the trials which he will face in this next chap
Another form of Princess Zelda, Sheik is a persona taken on by her during Ocarina of Time that could completely hold their own in a separate game. In fact, an allegedly canceled Sheik Legend of Zelda spin-off would have done just that, but fans will never see the completed title. Another possibility is that Tears of the Kingdom refers to Hyrule itself crying out in pain. Hyrule Castle was lifted into the air due to the Malice from the withered mummy in the cave, which is shown pouring out in waves before Link and Zelda stumble across it. With this, it’s not impossible that the Malice is spreading and growing stronger, perhaps even to the point where it will corrupt the entirety of BOTW 2 ‘s open world as well as the beings that inhabit it. Traditional Zelda dungeons in Tears of the Kingdom would address one of the criticisms of Breath of the Wild , where the puzzles being spread out and the presence of the Divine Beasts left some players missing the dungeons from previous Zelda games. Dungeons generally have Link complete them so that he obtains a reward at the end that helps him with his quest to save Hyrule, like awakening the Sages in Ocarina of Time and collecting their medallions. Both of these concepts suggest that Tears of the Kingdom may allow Link and Zelda to explore below ground, spelunking into long-forgotten caverns and unearthing ancient ruins. Some sparser areas of Breath of the Wild ’s map may be populated by these new ruins, like Arbiter’s Grounds in the Gerudo Wasteland.
